The terms of reference of the committee give it responsibility for:

  • Contribution to the development of policies, plans and strategies
  • Review of policies, plans, strategies, services and processes
  • Scrutinising decisions of the Cabinet
  • Deciding whether to call-in Cabinet decisions

Meetings of the committee are normally held on Thursdays (not every Thursday), at 7pm. Venues vary so please check this page for agendas as and when they are available. Members of the public are normally welcome to attend.

The committee can question and gather evidence from people inside and outside the council (with their consent) and can appoint sub-committees or consultants to help it in its deliberations.
