Changes for Cash Payers

Changes for Cash Payers

In an attempt to reduce costs and become more efficient the council is making changes to the way payments can be made. This leaflet will explain those changes in detail and give advice on how you can still make cash payments if you so wish and the alternatives are outlined below.

Post Office
It is free to pay your Council Tax, if you use your Council Tax swipe card, at the Post Office. Payment may be made by debit card, cash, cheque and savings stamps and/or a combination of all of these. To apply for a Council Tax Swipe card, complete the on line form or contact the Customer Service Team on 01253 658658.

Transcash voucher
Without a swipe card, quote the Council’s account no. which is 613 1239. Your Council
Tax/Business Rates account no. must be quoted along with your name and address.

There may be charges if you use an alternative method of payment to a Council Tax swipe card at the Post Office.

Payzone Outlets
You can use your Council Tax Swipe card, to pay your Council Tax at any Payzone outlet with this sign.

Direct Debit
Payment by Direct Debit is the most convenient and cost effective method of making monthly payments. The majority of our Council Tax customers pay this way. You can either fill in the form on the back of this leaflet or use the tear off slip on the bottom of your Council Tax bill. This is also available in a large A4 format from the Customer Service Team or on-line. You can download it in the right hand column.

Internet Banking ( Home Banking ) or BACS ( Electronic Payment )
You will need to quote bank details and your reference/account number and the instalment amount. Sort Code 40-40-02, Account no. 41105000, for Council Tax payments Sort Code 40-40-02, Account no.11006584 for Business Rates payments, and Sort Code 40-40-02, Account no. 11006444 for Sundry Invoices.
