The Audit Committee is a standing committee of Full Council.
The Cabinet is the part of the Council that is responsible for most day-to-day decisions. The Cabinet is made up of the Leader and seven other Councillors, known as Cabinet Members.
The terms of reference of the committee give it responsibility for:
Monitoring the performance of Fylde Vision, the borough's Local Strategic Partnership; Scrutiny of partnerships; Scrutiny of external organisations; Consideration of issues of local concern; Contribution to scrutiny of Lancashire County Council; Responsibility for monitoring emerging government policy.
All Councillors meet several times a year at Council. Although the Cabinet takes most of the day-to-day decisions in the running of the authority, the meetings of the Council remain the ultimate policy making body for Fylde Borough Council.
The Development Control Committee has responsibility for functions relating to town and country planning and development control and planning and conservation matters which include the determination of planning applications and to confirm or otherwise deal with Tree Preservation Orders, to which objections have been made.
The Joint Committee is an informal meeting with no executive powers. The Committee will comprise of three representatives from both Wyre and Fylde Councils.
It is at the Council’s discretion as to which Councillors serve on the Joint Committee. Its meetings will not be formal meetings but will be open to public.
The Committee will normally meet quarterly unless circumstances require a special meeting.
Venues will alternate between each civic centre with the Leader of the host council chairing each Committee meeting and secretarial support being provided by the host Council.
Lancashire Locals are a Joint Committee of the County Council and District Council. The aim is to strengthen local democratic accountability through empowering locally elected Councillors to take decisions, shape and influence the delivery of local government services in their District.
The Licensing Committee has responsibility for functions relating to the Licensing of Pubs, Clubs, Restaurants and People under the Licensing Act 2003.
