Business Watch Scheme

Environmental Health
Information about the Business Watch scheme operated by the Environment Agency.
As part of a Government initiative on tackling waste crime, Defra have provided funding for the Business Resource Efficiency and Waste (BREW) programme. The BREW programme provides a welcome boost to the support available to small businesses on resource efficiency and should deliver substantial financial savings for business as well as significant environmental benefits.
The Environment Agency is one of the delivery bodies of this programme and is working closely with the Lancashire Business and Environment Association (Lancs BEA) and Lancashire Constabulary to identify small businesses on industrial estates throughout Lancashire that would benefit from becoming part of a Business Watch Scheme.
We are pleased to announce that Boundary Road, Lytham, has been identified as an estate that would benefit from the extra support such a scheme offers.
- The long-term benefits of being part of such a scheme have been found to include:
- Reduce criminal activity on Business Watch industrial estates
- Better communication links with the Police
- Access to free site security and environment management advice
- New Business Watch signage on the estate
- Regular breakfast meetings with the Police and other interested parties
- A more secure and better informed business environment
The entire Business Watch Scheme is being financed through the BREW programme and there is therefore no cost to companies on Boundary Road.
Further information on the BREW programme can be found on the Environment Agency's website and further information on the business watch scheme can be obtained from Barry Noon, LBEA Business Advisor on barrynoon@lineone.net
