By-laws
Information on byelaws in Fylde
We are often asked whether there are by-laws covering particular activities in the borough. Byelaws are regulations made by a particular public body and which apply only to a specified area, often the area of the public body concerned. Councils can only make byelaws where national legislation gives them a by-law-making power. The byelaws themselves have to be approved by the government before they can come into effect.
It is quite unusual nowadays for national legislation to give councils powers to make byelaws, so it is fairly uncommon for new by-laws to be made. Even where byelaws exist, they can be automatically superseded if new national legislation covers the same activity.
On this page you will find links to byelaws which cover all or parts of the Fylde Borough Council area. Some of them have been made by the borough council and some by parish councils. If you need any further information on the byelaws, please contact Ian Curtis on 01253 658506 or by email on ianc@fylde.gov.uk.
