The Cabinet is the part of the Council that is responsible for most day-to-day decisions. The Cabinet is made up of the Leader and eight other Councillors, known as Cabinet Members.

When key decisions are to be discussed or made by the Executive Cabinet, these are, in so far as they can be anticipated, listed in a Forward Plan regularly published on behalf of the Executive Cabinet. If these key decisions are to be discussed with Council officers at a meeting of the Executive Cabinet, this will generally be open for the public to attend, except where personal or confidential matters are discussed.
