A message from the Leader of the Council on the Corporate Plan

Message from the Leader of the Council

The Fylde Borough Council’s Corporate Plan 2010-13 outlines the key priorities and actions we will take as a council to make the quality of your life in the Fylde community even better. Recent years have proved to be very challenging with increasing pressure on council budgets through such things as concessionary travel. These pressures will heighten in light of a reducing grant settlement from Central Government with effect from 2011/12 onwards.

In the current climate local councils are being squeezed tighter and we have to act smarter to continue delivering high quality services in the community. At Fylde we will achieve this by working in partnership with other service providers in the community together with our neighbouring local authorities and by listening and responding to what you want from your council.

As leader of the Council I will be making every effort to ensure that the residents of Fylde get the best possible service from the Council and all its partners during these current times of austerity. Our current commitment to you is outlined in our Corporate Plan.

The Local Strategic Partnership has continued to support community based schemes that have improved the quality of life for some of the most disadvantaged groups in the community. Supporting community groups across the borough to achieve their goals is a top priority because the Council is not always best placed to deliver a service but we are always ready to provide support and resources to our partners.

We live in a world where change is a constant and continuous improvement and is driven by ever changing customer expectations. Although a great deal has been achieved at Fylde there is still a lot more to do within ever decreasing resources and we will continue to work hard to be one of the best places in the country to live, work and visit. The hard work and dedication of employees, elected members and all our partners will continue so that we can put the customer first, strengthen the local community and enhance the reputation of the Fylde Borough. My personal determination to make Fylde Council a strongly performing local authority has never been more focused and I know that all your elected councilors and the officers at the Council share this view.
