Deputy Mayor of Fylde - Councillor Ray Thomas
I was born in Widnes, Cheshire in 1946.
Having qualified as a school master and gaining a Masters DegreeI taught for 28 years in Comprehensive schools, in Cheshire and Lancashire. My last appointment was as Head of Humanities before taking early retirement in 1996. I moved to Lytham in 1999, and opened a photographic studio, in Dicconson Terrace, until 2007.
I am a member of the Rotary Club of Lytham that supports many local and national charities. I am also a member of Lytham in Bloom, a Friend of Lytham Railway Station, a Friend of Lowther. and a Friend of Clifton Hospital Dementia Group. I represent FBC on the Fylde Arts Partnership, and the Fylde Arts Association. I also attend meetings for Lytham Business Partnership.
My interests include the Arts, Music, the theatre, travel, politics and playing the guitar as well as photography . I was elected in 2015 as a Conservative Councillor for Clifton Ward, Lytham, and serve on the Licensing Committee, Tourism and Leisure, and also a substitute for the Planning Committee. I look forward to supporting John and Geraldine during their Municipal Year. My Deputy Mayoress is Mrs Vivien Ivell, who I know will be very supportive too.
