Flooding near Elsecar South Yorkshire

Recent occurrences of flooding in the UK have shown the devastating effects that these events can have on people's homes and businesses.

Much can be done to reduce the damage caused by floods as the guidance on this page shows.

We hope it will be of practical help to all those whose homes or businesses may be at risk.

To see if your home or business is at risk of flooding enter your post code on the Environment Agency Flood Map website by using the link on the right hand side of this page.

The Environment Agency has issued new guidance to the general public, in the form of three leaflets, offerings advice on what can be done before, during and after a flooding incident. Copies of the guides are available by selecting the relevant link on the Downloads section of this page. The Agency is also preparing audio versions of the guides that are expected to be available by November of this year. Further information on the guides and hard copies may be obtained from the Agency by calling Flood line No. 0800 988 1188.
