Energy and Waste Advice (FLoWE)

Main FLoWE logo
Fylde Low Waste and Energy is the brain child of Michael Jack MP to make Fylde the most sustainable Borough in the Country by 2020. To do this an advice service for individuals, households, businesses and schools has been set up to give information and assistance on energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste, recycling and transport.
FLoWE operated from April 2007 to March 2011. In that time it helped many householders, schools, businesses and organisations to save money by saving energy through running a wide variety of different projects and campaigns. Although FLoWE is no longer in operation the information contained in this section of the council's website is being retained as a source of information for others to make further improvements. For additional advice please look under the external links of the individual sections to the left of this page which should be able to help you further.
Over the last few years there has been a lot of emphasis from the press, government agencies and environmental groups about the importance of reducing the amount of energy we use and waste we send to landfill. We are told we can all do "our bit", whether as individuals, organisation's or businesses, but little information is offered as to what can actually be done.
FLoWE (Fylde Low Waste and Energy) aims to help change this by being a point of reference for information on these issues.
FLoWE
Fylde Low Waste and Energy is the brain child of Michael Jack, MP for Fylde. His aspiration is to make Fylde the most sustainable Borough in the Country plus for the borough to be the most energy efficient by 2020. As a key element to achieving this aim he has helped establish an advice service for businesses, households, schools and organisation's.
FLoWE aims to act as a hub to gather information and best practise on energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste, recycling, transport and climate change issues so that anyone in the Fylde area can obtain information relevant to them. So if you are interested in finding out what action you can take, what grants are available or who can help you develop your ideas, contact FLoWE and we will help you start moving in the right direction.
Boiler and Car Scrappage Scheme
In early 2009 the Government launched its new boiler scrappage scheme following on from the success of its car scrappage scheme. The aim of both is to replace inefficient equipment which wastes energy and costs users a lot more money than more efficient varieties would.
For the boiler scrappage scheme there are certain criteria to meet to be able to take advantage of this opportunity. To find out more about these conditions please see the link to the right of this page. For more information please contact the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre on 0800 512 012.
Further information on what you can do to save energy in your home, business and school, and help that is available, will be added soon. To find out more information contact FLoWE on 01253 658 527 or email flowe@fylde.gov.uk.
Since October 2008 FLoWE has been brought within Fylde Borough Council's structure. The 18 months prior to this FLoWE was supported and guided by a variety of regional and local organisation's and businesses whose expertise cover the various areas that FLoWE works in. FLoWE and Fylde Borough Council would like to thank these organisations for their time and dedication to push the project forward. These organisations included:
BAe Systems, Carr Hill High School, Department for Work and Pensions, Environment Agency, Fylde Borough Council, Fylde Local Strategic Partnership, GB Energy, Home Insulation Services, Inenco, Lancashire Economic Partnership, Northwest Regional Development Agency, Renewables Northwest and Toshiba Westinghouse.
