Information and advice about the treatment and control of pests.

The pest control team provide a variety of treatment and preventative services. These services are subject to charge.

  • Treatment for rats, mice and cockroaches in houses
  • Baiting of the public sewage system as part of our overall pest reduction strategy. This work is carried out in conjunction with United Utilities.
  • Smoke testing to find the source of pest problems.
  • Treatment for wasps, ants, fleas and other insects in houses
  • Home visit for ‘advice’ on a pest. 
  • Treatment for moles.

Domestic Costs (from April 2012)

  • Ants - £63
  • Bedbugs - £36
  • Carpet Beetles - £63
  • Cockroaches - £36
  • Fleas - £63
  • Flies  - £63
  • Mice - £36
  • Rats - £36
  • Wasps - £63
  • Moles  - All treatments (domestic or commercial) £75 (up to 3 visits)  (Additional visits charged at £39)

Non-Domestic (commercial, educational, trade/business rates)

(including letting/management agencies and landlords of residential properties, schools, residential care homes)

  • All pest treatments £75 first treatment visit, subsequently £39 per follow-up visit associated with initial treatment
  • Moles - All treatments (domestic or commercial) £75 (up to 3 visits) (Additional visits charged at £39)

We also provide the following services. These carry a charge which depends upon how complex the work is and the time it will take to complete. Quotes are available on request.

  • Advice is available on the treatment of pigeons, other birds and mammals such as rabbits, etc.. The Council does not provide a treatment service for these pests.
