My neighbours tree overhangs my garden blocking out the light – What can I do about it?

It is not in the power of the Council to intervene in civil disputes. If trees are on private land it is the responsibility of the landowner to address the problem. However, before any work is carried out it is recommended that you contact the Council’s Tree Officer to establish whether a tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO's) or in a Conservation Area.
