What variation in payment is there between councillors in different roles such as cabinet members or back benchers?

Cabinet and executive members, who have full-time responsibilities for multi-million pound budgets, are paid special responsibility allowances.

The average annual special responsibility allowance for a cabinet or executive member is £9,710.  The payment at Fylde for a Cabinet member is £3500 - well below the national average.

Other councillors are paid responsibility allowances for additional roles including chairs and vice chairs of committees.  A full list of the current special responsibility allowances paid at Fylde can be viewed on the expenses page of this website.
