Affordable Housing

Homebuy Logo
The Government has introduced a scheme, branded as HomeBuy, to help people get a foot on the property ladder. This includes the new expanded Open Market HomeBuy.
Buying a home through the HomeBuy schemes
There are three parts to the HomeBuy scheme:
- New Build HomeBuy, where you share ownership of your home with a housing association;
- Open Market HomeBuy, assistance is in the form of an equity share loan to purchase a property on the open market.
- First Time Buyer Initiative - English Partnerships, this is only available in certain areas and is a shared equity product.
For many people, these schemes will provide the best chance of owning a home in the area in which they want to live and work. The Plumlife leaflet listed on the right hand side of the page provides a brief summary of each of the products listed above.

Ownhome
Ownhome is provided by a partnership between Places for People and the Co-operative Bank. The scheme is part funded by the Government and is designed to help people who cannot afford to purchase suitable accommodation and make their first step onto the property ladder. It consists of 2 parts a ownhome loan from Places for People and a mortgage from the Co-op Bank.
