Homelessness Strategy 2008 - 2013

Man leaning against a question mark
Information about the homelessness strategy in place which aims to reduce to amount of homeless people in Fylde.
Under the Homelessness Act 2002 all housing authorities must have in place a homelessness strategy. The first homelessness strategy was published in July 2003 and the Homelessness Act requires Local Authorities to publish an update within 5 years.
A new homelessness strategy has been formulated and is now published (10.07.08). This can be found in the downloads section to the right of this page.
The Homelessness strategy sets out the aims and objectives for homelessness prevention services provided by the Council and its partners. The new strategy has been developed over the last 18 months through the Homelessness Action Group. The Group consists of FBC officers, partners and agencies active in the Borough on homelessness issues. The Group is independently chaired by the Housing and Community Director of Fylde Face to Face YMCA. As part of the strategy a detailed action plan has been formulated to meet the aims of the strategy. Years 1 and 2 of the plan concentrate on meeting key targets. Years 3 - 5 deal with service development, whilst work to prevent homelessness continuously runs through the cycle of the strategy.
As part of the strategy development a review of homelessness in Fylde has been completed. The review has pulled together all available data on homelessness in Fylde. Data has been collected from statutory agencies and voluntary agencies to provide a picture of homelessness now and estimate future levels of homelessness.
A copy of the homelessness review can be found in the downloads section to the right of this page.
