Fylde Coast Choice Based Lettings Formal Consultation
Fylde Coast Sub Regional Choice Based Lettings 'MyHomeChoice'
12 week policy consultation 28th June 2010 - 17th September 2010 - Extended to 08/10/10
MyHomeChoice is the proposed new way of advertising social rented homes across the Fylde Coast. This is a partnership between Blackpool Council, Fylde Borough Council, Wyre Borough Council, Blackpool Coastal Housing, Regenda, Muir, New Fylde Housing, Places for People and Great Places Housing Group. It is expected the system will go live summer 2011.
MyHomeChoice will allow social landlords to advertise their available properties on a weekly basis. Applicants are then asked to express an interest (known as 'bidding') in the properties they would like to live in.
Each local authority has to have an Allocation Scheme which sets out how they will allocate social housing in their area. Across the Fylde Coast, the Allocation Schemes consist of two elements - the Consistent Assessment Policy and a local Annual Lettings Plan. The Consistent Assessment Policy is used to give people an appropriate band. The allocation of properties to individuals is based on housing need, time on the register, and local connection. The Annual Lettings Plan sets out the strategic priorities for each borough.
The three local authorities Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre are now embarking on the statutory 12 week consultation period. Formal consultation will now take place on the draft Consistent Assessment Policy and Blackpool/Fylde/Wyre draft Annual Lettings Plans.
