Information about the rewards, benefits and conditions for working at Fylde Council.

General

This covers all appointments that are subject to the scheme of Conditions of Service of the National Joint Council for Local Government Services.

Salary

Monthly paid employees are paid monthly on the 15th of each month, direct into the bank. New entrants appointed between 1 October and 31 March in any year will be entitled to one increment after six months' service, thereafter increments are paid annually on 1 April until the maximum is reached.

Weekly paid employees are paid directly into the bank every Friday.

Probationary Period

When joining the Council's service other than directly from service with another local authority, a six month probationary period will be served, at the end of which, subject to a satisfactory report by the Chief Officer, employees will be transferred to the permanent staff.

Office Hours

The Council's standard office hours are:

  • Flexible working (dependant on service requirement) 07:30-19:00
  • Full time employees normally work 37 hours a week. A flexible working scheme is available to many staff.

Annual Leave

The basic annual leave entitlement is set out below:

  • Less than 5 year 23 working days
  • Not less that 5 years 28 working days
  • Staff are also entitled to eight days Statutory Holidays
     

Sickness Payments

In the case of absence from duty owing to illness, including injury or other disability, a sickness allowance is paid by the Council in accordance with the following scale, less certain benefits payable under the Department of Social Security rules.

Pension Scheme

All posts are subject to pension regulation's and all employees are eligible for membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Medical Examination

Appointments are subject to satisfactory medical screening.

Relocation Assistance to New Entrants

A scheme is available to assist newly appointed staff who on appointment declare an intention to move home as a result of their appointment.

Car Allowance.

If a car allowance is attached to the post, the allowance paid will be in accordance with the national scales up to a maximum of 1450cc. The Council retains the right to vary any allowance granted.

Purchase of Motor Cars

The Council operates a scheme for advancing loans to categorised car users for the purchase of a car.

Training Concessions

Facilities are granted to employees who are required to undertake approved courses of study and training.

Candidates' Expenses

Necessary expenses incurred by candidates attending for interview will be refunded as follows:

Rail and bus fares at standard return fare where appropriate.

  • Subsistence and necessary overnight expenses subject to the maximum as follows:
    Breakfast £4.95, lunch £6.82, tea £2.68, and evening meal £8.45.

If the successful candidate declines to join the Council, these expenses will not be paid to them.
