Throughout the year we receive many complement's on the quality of our parks and gardens. As a popular visitor destination these well kept areas of open space are often the first thing people see and the most abiding memory.
As places to play tennis or bowls, watch your children play, or have a leisurely walk or even just sit and contemplate.
Supported by four teams of dedicated gardeners the parks include Lowther Gardens, Ashton Gardens, Fairhaven Lake, Promenade Gardens, Hope Street Recreation Ground, Kirkham Memorial Gardens as well as town centre planting and playing fields, all of which are maintained to a high standard throughout the year. Using the latest in horticultural know- how and striving to achieve high recycling targets.
Cultural improvement means that there is always something new to see and the parks remain the borough’s ‘shop window’.
