Fylde Borough Council are hoping to gain the green flags again this year and have submitted management plans for 2012 which can be viewed on the right hand side of the page.
All parks awarded Green Flags are subject to a rigorous annual judging process. There are 8 separately measured criteria that a park must meet in order to reach the required standard. The judges look for spaces that are welcoming, healthy and safe, clean and well maintained, as well as spaces which are sustainable and which involve the community.
Community Involvement and Consultation is seen as a key element and fortunately all three of are sites benefit from a very high level of Community Involvement. Without this continued support we could not maintain such high standards in our Parks & Open Spaces.Winning the award brings many benefits, including new revenue opportunities, increased appeal for tourists and a renewed sense of pride in the area.
Managed by the Civic Trust, Green Flag Awards set standards for management and promotion of parks and green spaces as social places as well as places for walking, play, informal sports and for contact with the natural world.
Judging of Lowther, Fairhaven and Lytham War Memorial Gardens was completed in mid June, and the results can be seen by accessing the link on the right of the page.
