Fylde Borough Council is committed to the highest possible standards of openness, probity and accountability. In line with this commitment we encourage all our employees, stakeholders and contractors, with serious concerns about any aspect of the Council’s work, to come forward and voice those concerns. The Council’s Whistleblowing Policy is intended to encourage and enable this process and to do so without fear of victimisation, subsequent discrimination or disadvantage.

“Whistleblowing” is intended to cover concerns that may fall outside other procedures such as the Council’s Complaints Procedure. These may include:

  • Unauthorised use of public funds;
  • Possible instances of fraud or corruption;• Health and Safety risks;
  • Damage to the environment;
  • Sexual harassment or physical abuse;
  • Unethical conduct;
  • Breach of Council regulations or procedure.

Concerns may also be raised about any aspect of service delivery, or the misconduct of employees or Councillors, or others acting on behalf of the Council. Concerns are always better in writing, setting out as much detail as possible. If you feel unable to put your concern in writing, you can telephone or meet with an appropriate officer.

Confidentiality: The Council will do its best to protect your identity when you raise a concern and do not want your name to be disclosed.

Anonymous Allegations: Our policy encourages you to put your name to an allegation. Concerns expressed anonymously are much less powerful, but they will be considered at the Council’s discretion.

Please see below for the details of the officers you can contact if you have concerns.
