Mobile Technology in the Refuse Trucks

The Council has fully rolled out a mobile communication solution to all of its refuse vehicles.
A number of customers contact the council asking for details on the system.
This page explains how the Council use the system.
- The Council records all bins that are not ready for collection by 7:30. Customer services have access to this information.
- The Council tracks the location of the refuse vehicles and uses the information for accident claims and improving the efficiencies of the rounds.
- The refuse team sign off streets when they are complete allowing the customer services team to have a live view of what areas of the borough are complete.
- The refuse team will record bins that are contaminated (for example a non recyclable product placed in the green box). Customer services have access to this information.
