Extension added to seal deal of Heeley Road Sale

Earlier this week the Fylde Cabinet met to consider a last-minute offer from Town Manor Developments for the sale of its land at Heeley Road, St Annes and resolved to accept their offer subject to stringent conditions being met on the timescales for completing the sale.
One of these conditions required Town Manor to deposit 10% of the agreed selling price with the Council by close of business on Thursday (23rd April). Unfortunately, Town Manor did not meet this condition and requested that they be given a further 48 hours.
Councillor Roger Small, the Portfolio Holder for Finance and Resources said: “Bearing in mind the significant level of the offer received from Town Manor, the Cabinet does not wish to be unreasonable in its dealings with the company and has agreed to this request to extend the final deadline for receipt of the deposit to Monday 27th April”.
The Council was on the verge of a deal to dispose of the site to a Housing Association for the development of supported accommodation for homeless households but this was shelved when Town Manor Developments made a substantially increased offer for the site.
Councillor Small continued: “I think we have a responsibility to the community to consider seriously all realistic opportunities in these circumstances but, equally, we cannot afford to lose a significant inward investment project to the Borough if Town Manor cannot honour their deal”.
