MBEs to be Presented at St Annes Town Hall

Fylde Council Town Hall
Two local residents, named in the New Year Honours list will be presented with their MBEs this week as the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Lord Shuttleworth, visits St Annes to bestow the honours on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.
Mr Roy Potter from St Annes and Mr Harry Holland will receive their honours from Lord Shuttleworth in a special ceremony hosted by the Mayor of Fylde, Councillor Susan Fazackerley, The Leader of Fylde Borough Council, Councillor John Coombes and the Chief Executive of the council, Mr Phillip Woodward.
Roy Potter, is involved with the Lancashire Cyclists Action Group, a member of the Cycling Tourist Club and a member of the Lytham St Annes Cycling Campaign Group which helps to promote safer cycling. He was nominated by officials at the Council for over 30 years of campaigning to promote cycling around the borough. Amongst his most notable achievements are; cycle stands around the borough, the development of the Fylde Cycle Route and map, creation of a cycle path in Lytham and campaigning to lift the cycle ban on Lytham Promenade turning it into the dual use promenade we see today. He also secured funding to provide cycle bells for cyclist using the promenade to keep the area safe.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Blackpool will also attend in honour of the award to Blackpool resident Harry Holland for his community services work in the Blackpool area.
Also attending on this day will be four Deputy Lieutenants and their spouses and invited guests of the two recipients.
