Is Tourist Boost Heading Our Way?

Tourism bosses nationwide are claiming that people are staying in the UK for holidays this summer and figures at Fylde Borough Council suggest more people might be heading to the Fylde.

The new tourism brochure was launched in Fylde in early December and already a record number of requests, for the brochure, have been received by the Council. From start to finish the brochure has everything needed to get a visitor hooked on the Fylde. From inspirational views of the countryside to all the best places to eat out and do a spot of shopping, the brochure is crammed with all the best bits the Fylde has to offer.

The Council’s tourism web site, www.visitlythamstannes.co.uk has also had a record number of hits as people check for the latest information on accommodation and events around the Fylde Borough.

It all points towards a potential influx of visitors to the borough this summer.

Councillor Simon Renwick, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “Our neighbours in Blackpool have claimed their hotels are already filling up at an unprecedented rate for the summer period. It is also apparent that people are booking to stay longer and it would be fantastic if that trend was the same for here in Fylde.

“We have lots for visitors to enjoy too with our regular summer fairs, outdoor events and the return of the Beach Rugby tournaments later in the summer. Both the brochure and the web site do an outstanding job of tempting people into the Borough and I am very pleased it looks like they are working.

“It looks as though more people may be holidaying in the UK this year, and I hope they consider coming to a beautiful area such as Fylde. Their extra income will help our local hotels and businesses no end, bringing much needed input to the local economy.”

The tourism brochure and website are designed for locals as well as tourists with information about offers on places to eat or activities to take part in. The brochures can already be found in Tourist Information Centres or requested from the website by logging on to www.visitlythamstannes.co.uk.
