Traffic Calming to help road safety in Fairhaven.
A stretch of promenade in Fairhaven near St Annes has been given a safety boost as Fylde Borough Council has pushed for the installation of traffic calming measures from the County Council.

Fairhaven Lake
In conjunction with Highways and Environmental Management Lancashire County Council Councillor Cheryl Little, Cabinet Member for Social Wellbeing, has facilitated the measures, designed to slow traffic down making it safer for pedestrians, along the promenade by Fairhaven Lake and Granny’s bay. The move comes as local residents raised concerns about the speed of some drivers along the stretch of road where families and young children often cross the road to get to the lake.
Councillor Little said: “This issue was discussed at every local Police PACT meeting I attended. Residents were worried that a serious accident would happen. They too had noticed an increase in speed of drivers along Inner Promenade. Consideration was given as to the best way to deal with the problem in that area and it was decided that these measures were the best way forward.
“Thankfully the County Council, that has responsibility for our roads and traffic, has now been able to introduce pedestrian refuges that will hopefully slow traffic down, making it safer for residents and visitors to the area.”
The calming measures are now in place on Inner Promenade between Coronation Road and Ansdell Road South and also near to the entrance to King Edward VII and Queen Mary School playing fields.
