Relief for Visitors as Toilets Reopen at Lake
Fylde Borough Council is meeting the demand to spend a penny at Fairhaven Lake over the summer by reopening the public toilets in the centre of the popular park for the summer season.

The toilets had been closed because of the need to divert thousands of pounds in investment to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act. State of the art toilets, located near the main car park at Fairhaven Lake, have been made disabled friendly and have recently provided more than sufficient facilities for disabled customers. Unfortunately, the toilet provision was not sufficient to cater for all customers and the need to provide additional toilets was made clear by residents.
Thanks to the Council’s efforts in making efficiency savings across several services the resources have been found to reopen the toilets located close to the Café and provide much needed relief for many customers.
Councillor David Eaves, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Well Being said: “The Council has invested money to ensure that there are excellent toilet facilities for our disabled customers but this left a shortage of toilets at Fairhaven Lake that we have responded to at no extra cost to the local tax payer.”
The reopening of the toilets has been welcomed by regular users of the facilities at Fairhaven Lake including the bowling club and Café. The Council is confident that this initiative will enhance the quality of the customer visit to the Lake.
The toilets will stay open for the summer season and the Council will put in place plans to ensure that there is adequate provision for every summer season.
