Ballot - Vote
This Thursday (4 June) is the day when voters in Fylde Borough will have their say on who represents them in the European Parliament and at their County council.
Everyone who is registered to vote should have received a card giving details of the polling station where they can cast their vote. You don’t need to bring this on the day, but if you’ve not received one, then please do call 01253 658516 or 658491 to find out where your polling station is – it may not be the same one as the last time you voted!
So what should you do on 4 June? Most residents will be voting in person at a polling station. When you arrive, you’ll be asked to confirm your name and address, and given your ballot papers; one for each election. To make your choice, simply place an ‘X’ next to the name of the party or individual candidate you want to represent you. If you have any questions or you need assistance, there will be staff available to help you. It’s that simple.
If you’ve never voted in person before, why not visit the Electoral Commission’s ‘virtual polling station’ at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk to see how straightforward it is?
If you have applied for a postal vote, you should have received your postal ballot pack by now – if not, please contact Fylde Borough Council on 01253 658516 or 658491 immediately. When filling out the statement included in your postal voting pack, do read the instructions carefully. Once you have filled in the ballot papers and signed and provided your date of birth on the statement, place the papers in the envelope provided, seal it immediately, and send it back as soon as possible.
Peter Welsh, Electoral Services Officer for Fylde Borough Council said: “voting is very simple and most of Fylde’s residents will have done it several times before. These elections are important though so there may be some who don’t normally vote that have chosen to make their mark. What happens in the European Parliament affects our lives in Fylde more than we often realise, and it’s worth making your voice heard.”
