The main purposes of this event are to stand up to homophobia and raise funds for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans causes. This year, participants can register for the 5k walk in advance. Registration is just £5 and participants will also be raising money through sponsorship. The walk is not a race and there will be no pressure to finish in a certain time, so anyone can take part.
The £5 Registration will go towards raising money to fund the LGF's vital services for LGB&T people across the North West. However, participants are free to raise money for the cause of their choice through sponsorship.

Emma Peate, Fundraising Manager at the LGF is really excited about this year's Walk Against Homophobia. She says: “Because last year was such a success we are making it even better - the walk is a longer route around the city, and with the event starting and finishing in the heart of the village this time, it's going to make it a special event for us as well as highlighting the work that we can all be doing to end homophobia, so come along, bring your friends, bring your family and help end homophobia and empower people.
The weekend itself will increase awareness of homophobia to the wider community as Emma goes on to say: “We really want the whole community to come together for this event to raise awareness and much needed funds to help us work towards our mission statement.”
The second Walk Against Homophobia, 'Walking Proud' takes places on Saturday 13th June. Sackville Gardens (Sackville Street, Manchester, M1) will be open from 11.30am for walkers to collect their Walk Against Homophobia T Shirts and goody bags. The Walk will set off at 1pm.
