Lytham Windmill has welcomed the hot summer weather of the last week as it welcomed a huge number of visitors through its doors as it opened to the public for the summer.
The iconic windmill draws thousands of visitors to the Fylde each year to look through the museum of past industry at the mill and sights of the Fylde Borough. It is popular with the young and old and is one of just a handful of free attractions in the area. It opened for the summer at the end of May and thanks to the good weather has already seen a steady flow of people looking around the museum and visiting the tourist information point located inside.
Councillor Susan Fazackerley said: “The museum and the windmill itself makes up a significant part of the Fylde’s heritage and I am very pleased people still take an interest in it. I also have to acknowledge the hard work of the volunteer group of the Heritage group who have worked so hard on the upkeep of the museum displays. It is a great start for the Borough this summer opening has been met with such idyllic weather and a good reception from the public.”
The mill is now open from Wednesdays to Sundays along with bank holidays between 10.30am and 4.30pm (closed for an hour from 1pm) until 06 September 2009 and is completely free to visit.
