Council Leader Explains Council Tax

Having trouble understanding why the budget was set as it was, what the figures mean and ultimately what it means for you?

John Coombes

The Leader of Fylde Borough Council is offering to visit community groups and explain the budget and hear the priorities of the group.

In what is believed to be a first for the Borough Councillor John Coombes is putting himself in the spotlight in order to answer residents’ questions and hear what they want money spent on.

Councillor Coombes said: “The council tax leaflets will be pushed through letter boxes in the next few weeks and hopefully they will explain a lot of the details of what people will be expected to pay and how that money is divided between the County Council, Borough Council, Fire Service and Police. However there is always confusion about the jargon and where that money then goes.

“In the spirit of being a listening council I am happy to meet with any local community groups, clubs or societies and give a short presentation on understanding Council Tax. It will give residents chance to put their views across that I can then feed back to council.”

If this is something that interests your group you can contact Councillor Coombes directly to invite him to attend your meeting by emailing cllr.jcoombes@fylde.gov.uk.
