Mornington Meadow Masterplan
THE transformation of one of Lytham's local parks will take a step forward with the handing over of a masterplan for the site to the Mornington Meadow Community Group.

A Flowering Meadow
The plans have been drawn up through Lancashire County Council's Community Designs Programme following consultations led by the local community group. The consultation gathered ideas for the future use of the park and how it can be developed, restored and improved.
County Councillor Tim Ashton will hand over the plans at Saltcotes Community Centre on Sunday 15th March. He said: "This is a new group that is working very hard to do something for a part of Lytham that has great potential.
"The support of the county council's Community Designs Team so far has been invaluable and Fylde Borough Council have also shown tremendous support.
"This is just the beginning of the story as far as Mornington Meadow is concerned and I look forward to seeing the plans take shape."
The formal handover allows the council to begin the process of making the plans a reality. The plans include provision for new zoned play areas for different ages (0-5, 5-8, 8-12) as well as facilities for teenagers, a sensory garden, and plenty of places to sit and relax. Also included in the drawings are pathways, new planting and general landscaping.
Once the plans are in the hands of the group funding can be sought to kick off the development. The group will be supported in this by officers from Fylde Borough Council and Lancashire County Council.
Councillor Simon Renwick, Fylde Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “This is a real milestone for the regeneration of the area. I know the recreation ground is already enjoyed by a lot of people but is in need of improvement so that more people can make use of the space.
“This is yet another of Fylde’s green spaces that local people are actively seeking to improve. We are delighted with the plans and we look forward to working with the group to drive forward the regeneration.”
The plans will be handed over on 15 March 2009 at 2pm at Saltcotes Community Centre.
