All the information about Community Safety in the Fylde is now at your fingertips thanks to a handbook being launched this week.

The new Community Safety Handbook is an updated version of the one launched for the fist time last year. This year’s has the most up to date numbers and latest information and plans for community safety in the Fylde.

Created by the Fylde Community Safety Partnership, the pocket sized booklet will be distributed free of charge to households around the Fylde and contains useful information about the issues that affects safety in the community. Not only that, it also encourages residents to get involved to combat issues of crime and disorder and arms them with the contacts of who to call for essential help. From pest control to licensing and from keeping your garden safe to what to do if you are a victim of a hate crime; it’s all in the book.

With input from the Police, Fire Service and the NHS the booklet is designed to be informative and encourage readers to support the campaigns to remove the problems from our streets and homes. Included in the book is a long and detailed list of contact telephone numbers for people to access all the right people to report all kinds of issues.

Bernard Whittle, Chair of the CDRP, said: “This is a guide book with useful information about a range of subjects that people can dip in to either out of interest or, more importantly, if they feel they or a friend are a victim of one of the issues.

“Everyone has a list of emergency numbers they keep handy with the details of plumbers or electricians or doctors. I would hope residents will keep this booklet along with that important list and refer to it from time to time.”

Last year’s handbook was very well received with people keeping them by their telephone so they have the information handy. Community engagement has improved and this has been attributed in part to the hand books. It is hoped that as the books are updated annually they will become a common must-have in the home.
