BSafe Blackpool and the Fylde Community Safety Partnership are joining forces on Monday (14 September) in order to help bikers from the North West who regularly meet in St Annes.
Staff from BSafe Blackpool, the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership in Blackpool will be heading to a meeting of keen motor-bikers in St Annes to hand out Crime prevention kits to the riders. Around 1,000 motorcycles are expected at the special meeting as the group heads through their annual charity run through the illuminations.
Fylde’s Community Safety Partnership will be joining in too as they offer safety advice and have their support vehicle on hand to offer a range of safety messages and crime reduction tips on a range of issues.
The packs, provided by the BSafe Blackpool partnership, contain a range of useful bits and bobs to help the biker keep their bikes safe. From guides on keeping your bike safe and secure, including safer riding tips, to special pens to mark equipment the packs have everything the biker could want to keep their bikes secure. As a bonus to the packs, Kick Start Motorcycles in Blackpool has kindly donated £10 discount voucher for a new ‘Oxford’ bike lock so riders can make sure they have the best lock for their beloved bike.
Councillor Tony Williams, Chair of BSafe Blackpool, said: “Some of the riders in this charity ride will be from out of the area but the majority will be from Blackpool so it makes sense to meet them while we can. We have a duty to tackle all forms of crime and disorder in Blackpool. Although motorcycle theft isn’t at the top of the agenda these packs are available to us and with one hit we will help a large group of riders prevent their bike being stolen.”
Bryan Ward, Community Safety Manager in Fylde, said: “BSafe has these packs and this meeting is a perfect outlet for them, we are very pleased to work with them and take the opportunity to engage with bikers from all over the North West. The two partnerships have exactly the same goals but work in different areas. It makes sense though that from time to time we work together in the true spirit of joint working to help a wider audience.”
