Fylde Council’s Cabinet last night considered the Annual report and business plan of Fylde Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and agreed to increase its level of funding for the next three years.
Fylde Council is the main provider of funds for the CAB which operates out of Council offices in Kirkham. Last night the Cabinet considered the annual performance report of the CAB and their proposed business plan for the next 3 years.
The CAB report showed it was dealing with a growing number of enquiries, particularly in relation to debt, housing and problems with utility providers brought about by the recession.
Cllr Albert Pounder, Portfolio Holder for Partnerships and Community Engagement said: “We recognise the key role performed by the Fylde CAB in providing help and support to vulnerable people in our community and people who may have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own. We can see that demands on the services offered by the CAB are growing and we felt it appropriate to make sure their funding was secure for the next three years. Over this time the Council will provide over £200,000 of financial support to the CAB and we feel this is money well spent in the current economic climate”.
