Fylde tourism chiefs are again bringing about new events to encourage residents of all ages to use the facilities that they have in Fylde.
Building on the success of the previous annual Northern Soul Championships, held at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, Fylde Councillors were keen to give Northern Soul fans the chance to limber up ready for the dancing season. The 26th September will see a Northern Soul Night hosted in the Lowther Pavilion with guest Soul singer Diane Lewis and well known DJ's.
Cllr Sue Fazackerley Portfolio Holder for Tourism & Leisure said: “This is the first event of this kind to be held at Lowther and it shows the Council's commitment to try and open up its facilities for the whole community to use and enjoy. I hope music fans of all ages will come along for what promises to be a great night”
The Theatre will be transformed into a Wigan Casino style dance floor, the bars will be open and free car parking on offer as well. Tickets are just 7.00 and can be purchased on the night or in advance at www.lowtherpavilion.co.uk
Cllr Fabian Wilson, a member of the Lowther Friends Group, said: “the Council is keen to work in partnership with the friends and by hosting such events we hope it will inspire a wider range of uses and all year round support.”
Cllr Cheryl Little Tourism Champion, said: “Northern Soul is making a come back and hit videos such as the one by Duffy which shot to the top of the charts in 2008 sparked a revival in all age groups - young or old it will be a great night of dance.”
