Don't miss your chance to vote

Selection of people with hands in the air
Fylde’s voters are being urged to ensure they don’t miss their vote in the 6 May General Election.
Only people on the electoral register are entitled to vote. Fylde Council staff contacted every home in the autumn – but people who have moved in or out of the area have until 5pm on Tuesday 20 April to ensure they are on the register.
People can also apply for a postal vote. Again, the deadline to apply is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April.
Phil Woodward, acting returning officer for Fylde constituency, said: “It would be tragic if someone missed their vote on such an important matter as a general election for want of a phone call or filling out a form.
“If you are not on the electoral register you won’t be able to vote. Similarly, some people prefer to vote by post and they won’t be able to do so unless they have applied in advance for a postal vote.
“Thursday 6 May is a really important date for democracy. Tuesday 20 April is a milestone in the election process and I urge everyone to ensure that they are on the electoral register and that they have made arrangements to vote by post if they want to do so.”
To check if you are on the electoral register, or to request a postal vote, simply call the electoral services team on 01253 658503 or email: electoral@fylde.gov.uk. Registering to vote only takes a few minutes: print off a form from www.fylde.gov.uk, the council’s website.
