The Friends of King George the Fifth Park in St Annes are organising a hoe-down and fun day to raise more money for park refurbishments.
The Heeley Road park and playing fields benefitted from a #135,000 revamp – raised by the Friends, Fylde Council and Lancashire County Council - last year when works included renewal of footpath surfaces, new lighting, a new play area, new shrubbery and repainting of entrance railings.
It is hoped that Saturday’s fun day will raise more money to further improve play facilities for older children.
The fun day, between 1pm and 4pm, will feature a hoe down, country and western music, a bucking bronco, raffle and tombola and a variety of stalls.
Councillor Sue Fazackerley, Fylde Council Cabinet member for Leisure and Culture, said: ‘The park is now a fantastic facility for the community and I am delighted that volunteers are keeping the momentum going.
‘The park has been transformed in recent years and little of it could have happened without such an active group of volunteers.’
The fun day and hoe down will be held at the park on Heeley Road, St Annes, between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday 28 August.
