Pool reopens

Good news for swimmers
St Annes pool will open for swimming on Wednesday 1 September.
The centre will feature a 25m pool and a gym with a full range of resistance and cardiovascular fitness equipment.
Activities will include public swimming, school swimming, ante-natal classes and swimming lessons.
Councillor Sue Fazackerley, Fylde Council cabinet member for Leisure and Culture, said: ‘The pool is looking better than ever – and it now has a gym to attract a wider range of customers.
‘The YMCA will be running the pool and I am sure they will do a superb job of it. They run similar facilities across the Fylde coast and they have proved they have the expertise to attract thousands of users.
‘The opening of the pool will help revitalise St Annes promenade in the lead up to the 2012 Golf Open Championship. The prom gardens have recently gained Green Flag status, we are currently repainting the fountain – and now we have the pool to really give the area a buzz.’
The cost of the pool will be lower than ever. Thanks to efficiencies, the cost to Fylde Council Tax-payers will be £147,000 less than when the pool closed in 2008.
Parking charges for the car park at the rear of the pool can be redeemed by users handing in a portion of their parking ticket at the pool reception.
