Fylde Council has been awarded money from central government to make improvements to its website.

Planned improvements include a dedicated secure online account available to every resident that will allow them to see details relevant to their local area and their Council Tax account.

The account will have a record of every contact the customer has had with the council and will be used to recommend and suggest services and events of interest.

Residents will be able to sign up for email alerts and take part in consultation and surveys about services in their local area.

Other new web facilities will include improvements to the online customer service facility and the creation of a frequently-asked-questions service linked to all public service providers across the borough. The facility will act as an online “one stop shop” for all services in the borough.

Councillor Karen Buckley, portfolio holder for Community Engagement and Partnership, said: “To compete for and win this money to improve our website is a major boost for Fylde.

“The web has traditionally been used to tell people about things. Now people will be able to use it to access services. It’s a major step forward in making local government more open.

“These new developments will bring public services together in one online location – a move that will benefit everyone”.
