Fylde’s leading citizen will be pushing for glory when he takes part in this month’s Sport Relief mile race.
The race will take place at Fairhaven Lake on Sunday 21 March – and Councillor Paul Rigby, Fylde mayor, will be pushing Councillor Patricia Fieldhouse, Fylde deputy mayor, in a wheelchair.
The civic duo will be leading a town hall team of eight volunteers.
A total of 150 runners are expected to run either one, three or six miles around the lake.
Claire Grant, Fylde Council’s sports development officer, said: “Paul and Patricia entered a few years ago. They didn’t win, but they did raise a lot of money for charity.
“The race aims to be good family fun that will get people fit while helping others.
“Fylde people have a great sense of fun and we’re looking forward to a great day.”
Activities at Fairhaven Lake on the day include a circus skills workshop.
Councillors Rigby and Fieldhouse can be sponsored at: www.mysportrelief.com/fyldemayoralteam or by telephoning Councillor Fieldhouse on 01253 735401.
Registration for the race is at noon and the race starts at 1pm.
