Hoteliers and guest-house owners are being offered free thermal imaging to see where their premises are wasting energy.
Thermal-imaging photographs appear bright red on the parts of buildings where energy is being wasted and dark blue or even black on energy-efficient parts.
The free thermal imaging surveys are being offered by Fylde Low Waste and Energy (FLoWE) between Monday 22 March and Thursday 1 April.
Andrew Loynd, Fylde Council’s FLoWE manager, said: “This winter has been the coldest since 1979 and energy bills will be a shocker for many businesspeople.
“Heating takes up almost half of the typical hotel or bed-and-breakfast’s energy bill, so cutting heat loss will boost profitability.
“The surveys show where heat is ‘leaking’ from buildings – and that tells the hotelier where insulation needs to be increased.”
Surveys are expected to take about 30 minutes and will be conducted from 6-9pm.
