Don't forget to vote
Fylde Council Chief Executive and Returning Officer Phil Woodward is reminding everyone to use their vote on 5 May.
Names of candidates for Fylde Council’s 51 seats will be published on Wednesday 6 April and all of Fylde’s 62,265 voters will be asked to elect councillors to steer the council for the next four years.
Mr Woodward said: “Fylde Council spends almost £11m each year on services ranging from parks to environmental health, from planning to bin collection and recycling – and much more.
“Each candidate will have their own views on how services should be funded and how much or little that Council Tax-payers will have to pay in future. I hope that voters will look very carefully at the issues and then use their vote as they wish.
“It takes only a few minutes to vote, but only people on the electoral register can vote. The register is compiled through an intensive canvass of everyone in the borough, but people do move house and that can mean that they lose their vote by not appearing on the register. If anyone thinks they may not be on the register they should check by contacting Paul Rogers on ext 8491 or Hazel Wood on ext 8516 at the council on or before 14 April.”
The final list of all candidates for the borough and parish elections will be published on Thursday 7 April.
The last date for anyone wanting to register for a postal vote is 5pm on Thursday 14 April.
