Do I Need Planning Permission?

White question mark

White question mark

Information about how to make a decision if you need planning permission or for a set fee (£30) get advice from a planning officer at Fylde Council.

There are three ways which you can determine if planning permission is needed:

  1. You can use the self assessment forms to the right hand side of the page in the downloads section based on the information you have about the proposal (no fee);
  2. You can ask one of our planning officers to look at the proposal and get back to you with a decision in 15 working days  for £30 (usually acceptable for conveyancing when you come to sell a property);
  3. Or you can submit a certificate of lawfulness (£75 for proposed works / £150 for retrospective) which allows you to be certain that the existing use of a building is lawful for planning purposes or that your proposal does not require planning permission.
