The arrangements relate both to the Council’s responsibilities for the preparation and review of planning policies through the Local Plan, and for the determination of planning application's, through Development Management.
The Updated Statement of Community Involvement was adopted by the Council on 26th September 2011. This is an update to the Statement of Community Involvement published in 2007 which was required to reflect changes to the Planning system and the Government’s increased emphasis on community involvement.

The Updated Statement of Community Involvement underwent two rounds of public consultation as part of its production:
Scoping consultation
A four week scoping consultation was undertaken between 7th October and 4th November 2010 to ask the community what should be included in an Updated Statement of Community Involvement. The Statement of Consultation and database of responses are available to download below. The representations received were used to write a final draft of the Updated Statement of Community Involvement.
Consultation on the final draft
A seven week public consultation was undertaken between 21st April and 9th June 2011, when the Council invited representations on the final draft. This was the final opportunity to get involved in the Updated Statement of Community Involvement. All representations received were assessed and taken into consideration in finalising the Updated Statement of Community Involvement before it was adopted by the Council.
