Fylde Borough Council is responsible for the collection of household and recyclable waste in the area. The council operates one of the best performing waste management services in the country, recycling over 43% of household waste collected.
Fylde Borough Council achieved the national recycling target for 2010 in April 2007!

There are 36,070 domestic properties in the Fylde borough area, of which
- 31,800 properties receive an alternate weekly collection of wheeled bins.
- 2,451 properties receive a weekly black sack collection.
- The remaining multi occupancy properties (flats) are set up on the domestic bulk bin service for the collection of general and recyclable waste.
- 36,070 domestic properties receive blue bag and green box collections.
Recycling Collection Service
Each household is provide with one set of wheeled bins (grey and green), a green box and a blue bag.
- Green bin to collect compostable rubbish such as garden waste and cardboard.
- Grey wheeled bin to collect any domestic rubbish that cannot be recycled.
- Green box to collect (rinsed) glass bottles / jars, cans, aerosols, foil trays and aluminum foil, plastic bottles and unwanted textiles.
- Blue bag to collect newspapers, magazines, junk mail, envelopes (without windows), telephone directories, yellow pages and greetings cards (no glitter).
The containers are collected on alternate weeks. The grey bin is emptied one week and the following week your recycling containers will be collected. Collection day information can be viewed by visiting www.fylde.gov.uk/refuse.
