We provide a service that is focused on preventing homelessness. We aim to ensure that people approaching us for housing advice are made aware of their options and rights. The Council does not have a duty to give every homeless person a home, but will provide assistance to enable people to find their own housing either directly or with the help of one of partner agencies.
Fylde Council work in partnership with Face to Face part of Fylde Coast YMCA and Progress Housing Group (incorporating New Fylde Housing) Our aim is to provide an efficient quality service to all the people of the borough.
Services offered by the Housing Team:
Wherever possible we will work with you to prevent you becoming homeless, to help you find accommodation and arrange support to help you maintain accommodation.
We provide assistance with landlord and tenant issues and ensure that the housing legislation is adhered to.
We will take appropriate action to deal with any landlord who harasses or illegally evicts tenants, with your agreement and assistance.
If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness within 28 days, you will be offered an appointment to make an Application for Assistance under The Housing Act 1996 as amended by The Homelessness Act 2002.
However, if you are already homeless, we will aim to see you as soon as possible to facilitate an application for assistance under the above mentioned legislation.
It may be necessary to provide interim accommodation whilst enquiries are made into your application.
The use of B&B accommodation will be minimized the length of time spent in interim accommodation will be as short as possible.
Further information about the homelessness process will be provided at the time your application is made.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM US?

• A home visit for those who are housebound or disabled and cannot to travel to our offices
• We will respond to your letters within 5 days working days.
• We will respond to your contact via web or email within 2 days
• If more time is needed to answer your enquiry, you will be told who is dealing with it and how long it may take.
What you can do to help us provide a good service to you..
• Provide information we ask for as soon as possible. This will help speed up the process
• Attend appointments on time with all the information requested
• If you are unable to attend an appointment, please let us know and we will make another appointment for you
• Tell us about any changes in your circumstances
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
We ask that you apply the same standards of behavior towards our staff and other customers as you expect from us. If you use abusive behavior towards our staff or other customers we will ask you to leave the building or end your telephone call.
The Council does not have any housing but you can approach members of our housing partners.

They are the major registered housing provider in our district with approx. 2.500 properties.

Bond Guarantee Scheme
Operate a high quality service enabling clients to find and secure property, primarily within the private rented sector.
The Bond Guarantee is a certificate which replaces the cash bond which is normally required by a private landlord before he/she will grant a tenancy. It is designed to help people who are unable to raise money for a bond.
The Bond Guarantee covers damage to the property which may be caused by the tenant in the first six months of a tenancy.
