Fylde Residents Energy Efficiency (FREE)
Fylde council is running a government backed scheme to improve the energy efficiency of eligible households. The aim is to help residents to improve the energy efficiency of their homes whilst reducing energy bills, carbon emissions, and levels of fuel poverty. Fylde Council’s role is to assess the eligibility of a household and this information is then passed onto our Fylde approved company, Wise Energy (our statement of intent can be found here) who is responsible for issuing the funding, appointing contractors, or installing the works.
ECO4 and ECO-Flex
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) focuses on supporting low-income and vulnerable and fuel poor households through installation of insulation and heating measures. The scheme aims to reduce fuel poverty and energy bills in the long-term and reduce carbon emissions. This scheme will run in Fylde from November 7th 2022 until 31 March 2026.
If you do not receive a qualifying benefit then you might still qualify through ECO’s flexible eligibility mechanism, known as ECO Flex. To be assessed for ECO Flex you must complete and sign a short application form that is then submitted to us, at this time, we will only accept applications from our approved companies Wise Energy www.wiseenergy.co.uk, Grant Store | ECO, OZEV and M&E Specialists (grant-store.com) and Consumer Rights: Helping People I Government Funding I ECO | Consumer Rights (consumer-rights.org).
Affordable Warmth Grant
Fylde has funding for the Affordable Warmth Grant to deliver interventions during the winter months. These interventions will be aimed at the most vulnerable on the lowest income to improve the energy efficiency of homes and reduce the cost of fuel bills. The scheme is a fixed funding stream and will run until funding becomes exhausted.
Who can get the Affordable Warmth Grant?
All applicants must be a homeowner over the age of 18
You will qualify if:
- You are in receipt of a means tested benefit or,
- You have a household income of less than £31,000
And one of the following vulnerabilities
- You are in receipt of a Disabled Facility Grant award having passed the means test
- You have a long term health condition that means you are clinically extremely vulnerable (such as diagnosed respiratory conditions in particular, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and childhood asthma)
- You are pregnant or you have a child under the age of 5
- You are unable to return home from hospital until a working heating system is in place
- You are 65 and older
- You are terminally ill
You can apply for up to £2,500 per household towards the cost of:
- Servicing, repairs and replacement boilers and heating systems and associated works, including controls and replacement of unsafe heating appliances
- Repairs to and new radiators and radiator reflectors
- Loft Insulation
- Failed Glazing Improvements (this will be at the discretion of the council)
- Emergency heating and dehumidifiers including portable heaters on loan whilst heating systems are repaired
- Advice on fuel poverty -advice to reduce costs through fuel switching, income maximisation, income maximisation, managing fuel bills & debts, warm home checks
- Emergency Top up fuel cards / vouchers
- Carbon monoxide monitors
All approved applications will be contacted by one of the authorised AFW contractors, Wise Energy, Grant Store, or Lytham Windows to arrange a survey. Housing Services will receive a copy of the quotation for approval. Approved quotations must be in accordance with Affordable Warmth allocation Guidance where an affordable warmth need has been identified, and are approved at Fylde Councils discretion.
Disabled Facilities Grant
The disabled facilities grant is a mandatory “means tested” financial grant. It helps meet the cost of adapting a property where a disabled person lives.
These are subject to an assessment by an Occupational Therapist which can be arranged by contacting Lancashire County Council on 0300 123 6720.
Park Home Energy Scheme
Fylde Council is pleased to announce we have onboarded with Park Home Energy Ltd, an energy improvement company, to bring energy measures to park home residents.
Park home residents can now take advantage of Energy Company Obligation which includes improvements for under floor insulation, roof insulation, and solar panels including a battery to enable generated electricity to be stored for use within the winter months. This will greatly reduce energy bills and improve the thermal efficiency of park homes.
